William H. Moser, U.S. Ambassador visited the objects of the National Nuclear Center of RK

On the first day of the working visit to Kurchatov, US Ambassador William H. Moser visited “Baikal – 1” research reactor complex, where he was acquainted with the implementation of projects within the framework of Kazakhstan-US cooperation in the development of nuclear energy and in resolving of nuclear non-proliferation issues.

In particular, the results of the unique project implementation on transportation and subsequent storage of spent nuclear fuel of BN-350 reactor and ensuring the physical security of objects were presented. The current works on research reactors conversion to low-enriched fuel were also presented.

         Subsequently, at the meeting of "round table", US Ambassador William H. Moser highly appreciated the results of 25 years of cooperation between the U.S. and Kazakhstan’s organizations in the field of nuclear power development and addressing nonproliferation issues, expressed confidence in continuing cooperation.

         At the second day of visit, it is planned to visit “Experimental Field” and “Degelen” sites located at Semipalatinsk Test Site.
