Engineering Barriers Strengthening

As part of the implementation of International Contracts on Nuclear Security, the National Nuclear Center of RK jointly with the US DoD Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) continues to perform operations at the former Semipalatinsk Test Site territory.

The construction of physical barriers is currently ongoing at the Experimental Field Site, multi-level security systems are being installed and the measures are being taken to reduce the level of surface radioactive contamination. All this will contribute to the strengthening of engineering barriers that exclude unauthorized access to the identified objects with the residues of nuclear activity.
