Visit of NNC RK Delegation to A.B. Bekturov Institute of Chemical Sciences

    On July 23, the official visit of the Delegation of the National Nuclear Center of RK to A.B. Bekturov Institute of Chemical Sciences took place.

       The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the results of work in the areas being implemented by the Parties. These are studies of the efficiency and sorption capacity of “Supergumat” Sorbent developed by the Institute of Chemical Sciences in terms of water purification from heavy metals and radionuclides, studies of the possibility of creating uranium-graphite fuel with low enrichment of uranium-235 to support the work on IGR reactor conversion from highly enriched to low enriched fuel, and the disposal of highly enriched fuel of IGR reactor.

        These areas are formalized in a Memorandum of Scientific and Technical Cooperation, signed by Erlan Batyrbekov and Dametken Fischer, the Heads of enterprises.

        The parties held fruitful discussions and defined further steps for projects implementation. The mutual opinion was expressed about the prospects of joint works and good quality of the results already obtained. Agreements were reached on intensification of bilateral contacts and carrying out joint experimental works at the base of NNC RK.
