The contribution of the First President of RK – Elbasy N. Nazarbayev, to the global movement for nuclear-free world and achievements of Kazakhstan as the first country to refuse the world’s fourth largest nuclear arsenal was discussed by participants of the international conference “Kazakhstan-UN: Partnership for Peace”.
Organizers of the conference: Library of the First President of RK – Elbasy in collaboration with MIA of RK and Permanent Mission of RK to UN Office in Geneva.
The conference was attended by Kazakhstani and foreign politicians, representatives of the nuclear disarmament expert community, diplomatic representations and missions.
Erlan Batyrbekov, Director General, represented the National Nuclear Center of RK. In his report he underlined – “Kazakhstan’s historical choice – to refuse the world’s fourth largest nuclear arsenal and the closure of the Semipalatinsk Test Site by the Decree of the First President of RK – has determined the further strategy and leading role of our country in area of global security”.
During the conference a scientific collection “On track to the nuclear-free world: Elbasy’s initiatives” was presented (in English), dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk Test Site.
