Summer School “Young Physicist-2023”

In June of the current year the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK) and the Park of Nuclear Technologies (PNT JSC) successfully organized the summer school “Young Physicist - 2023” with participation of more than 50 pupils from local schools of Kurchatov town and Pavlodar Oblast.

The program included lectures and practical exercises in area of nuclear and thermonuclear power, radioecology and geophysics. Lectors were specialists from NNC RK, PNT JSC, “Kazakhstan Nuclear Society” Association (Astana) and Shakarim University (Semey).

During the lectures pupils learnt about peaceful use of nuclear atom, theoretical base of controlled thermonuclear synthesis and principles of tokamaks operation, radiation, geophysicist profession.

During practical exercises, they visited scientific laboratories of NNC RK, where together with scientists prepared samples for radionuclide analysis; got acquainted with up-to-date equipment designed for the development of production methods and hydrogen storage.

In “PNT” JSC pupils were introduced electron accelerator operation, used during production of physically foamed polyethylene, roof waterproofing material and radiation sterilization of medical products.

Also, as part of summer school program the excursion to the Exposition Hall of the Semipalatinsk Test Site history was organized.

As a result, all the participants were presented with souvenirs and certificates on their successful completion of the summer physics and mathematics school “Young Physicist - 2023”.
