Notable progressive electricity shortage is observed currently on the territory of Republic of Kazakhstan. The main power generating items – thermal sources that built long time ago during the Soviet era, which continually produces its resources, need to be replaced. Along with this, given raising global ecological challenges regard to greenhouse gases emission, our state has entered a decisive stage for reach the carbon neutrality by 2060. The following strategy to achieve carbon neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved by the Decree of President of Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev. In Kazakhstan, energy epoch, which is supplied by the burning of fossil fuels gradually coming to the end as elsewhere in the world. In this regard, an urgent need for taking operation, modernization and the diversification of the newest power-generating capacities is vital for our power systems. By inputting the new varieties of green sources and renewable energy sources development, we'll able to solve this matter.
RES – uses as the sources of constant and maneuverable generation. Such kind of technologies is on the process of inputting and their participation rates in power generation of the country is rising. Nevertheless, this rate doesn't exceed the value of limited power of whole any state power generating stations, and Republic of Kazakhstan is no exception. RES generation can be occurred non-constantly, and fully depends on climatic external factors – solar power, wind, and other natural means. At the same time, we need to consider on details the power energy commercial efficiency issues, which produced with RES.
Rate of available power to the electro stations that placed currently in the territory of Kazakhstan doesn’t exceed 20 GW. Nowadays, the main consumers are largest industrial facilities, that accounting for 70 per cents of all existing consumers. In near future their quantity would be grown up, so the stable and full-time electricity delivery should be required for them from base power sources. To these sources includes NPP and HPP. As the HPP construction become not always meaningful – the only solution here we include environmental friendly atomic energy development as a part of base power generation. This decision is also justified by the fact that our country is the world leader in terms of volume of extracted raw materials to the atomic fuel – natural uranium.
Subsequent NPP construction permits to diversification of energy inside the Republic of Kazakhstan, it will contribute to solving the problem of electricity power shortage
The construction of nuclear power plants (NPPs) will facilitate the diversification of the energy sector in the Republic of Kazakhstan, address the issue of insufficient electric capacity, and generate employment opportunities not only in Kazakhstan but also in the surrounding region. The shortage of electric capacity will create new jobs not only in the nuclear industry, as evidenced by global experience, but also in related industries, as one position in the nuclear industry can potentially lead to up to ten jobs in other sectors. The NPP will serve as a significant catalyst for the advancement of Kazakhstan's scientific and industrial sectors, facilitating the optimal and sustainable utilization of our natural resources, particularly uranium, which is currently exported. The NPP will serve as a source of direct investments, which will significantly influence the development of the region's infrastructure and economy. The construction and operation of the NPP will result in an influx of economically active individuals, both those directly involved in the project and those employed in the service sector. The construction and operation of the NPP will result in a significant increase in tax revenues for the region, thereby facilitating a notable enhancement in the quality of life for its residents. It should be noted that this is not an exhaustive list of the positive changes that can be observed based on global experience.
