Working Meetings

The IAEA General Conference is an effective platform for holding working meetings with the existing partners of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as for establishing new scientific collaborations.

As a part of the 68th session, the issues of the current interaction with Mr. Zhao Hao, the newly elected President of Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy were discussed. The mutual intents to further develop the issues of cooperation were expressed.

During meeting with Dr. Jess C. Gehin, Head of Nuclear Science and Technology Department at the Idaho National Laboratory, an exchange of views was held on the possible areas of expanding cooperation between our organizations, which is currently focused on the implementation of research nuclear reactor conversion project. New potential areas of mutual interest were identified, and an agreement was reached to continue contacts.

1. issue of establishing partnership in the area of scientific research on controlled thermonuclear fusion became a subject of discussion with Mr. ZHANG Libo, Director General of Southwestern Institute of Physics of Chinese Nuclear Corporation. At that time, SWIP carrying out own advanced scientific research at the base of tokamaks HL-2A and HL-3. Chinese scientists expressed their interest in capabilities of Kazakhstan Materials Testing Tokamak KTM, the agreement on continuing the interaction in this direction was reached.
