Implementation of the SAIGA International Project

The technical meeting, involving specialists from the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK), was held in Kurchatov to address issues related to the implementation of the SAIGA international project

The main agenda was to discuss the operational status of sodium loop circuit development and to address technical challenges related to local measurement systems, particularly the neutron flux and temperature measurement fiber-optic system, as well as the manufacturing and assembly of fuel elements for the experimental device.

Significant attention was given to the safety aspects of the experiment. During the discussion, the NNC RK team presented thermophysical calculation results and proposed a well-reasoned scenario for managing a potential experiment emergency situation    

Moreover, the issues related to the equipment delivery from France to Kazakhstan essential for the implementation of the project were widely discussed. In conclusion, the stages of planning and reporting were adjusted.  

In general, the meeting was organized at the highest level.

As a result of this event, a protocol was issued in which the parties agreed about the further implementation of the project.
