The employees of the Republican State Enterprise “National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (RSE NNC RK) took part in scientific and technical session (STS) “Scientific and Technology Development of Mining Enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan” that involved searching for a solution to a problem set by KAZZINC company. The event was initiated by the Science Fund, JSC and MSHE RK and was held on the basis of EKSU named after D. Serikbayev, Ust-Kamenogorsk.
As part of the team work under the task “Development of solutions to reduce fuel consumption and environmental emissions for quarry transport by 20%, including the transfer of transport to hydrogen fuel”, the participants presented a joint project for the introduction of green technologies and alternative energy for quarry transport.
The proposed solutions to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by 20%, as well as the conversion of quarry transport to hydrogen fuel, generated extensive interest from the industrial partner and industry experts.
KAZZINC company expressed its readiness to support the initiative, noting the strategic project importance for the environmental and technological development of the industry.
Following the session, the project received approval from the STS experts and a recommendation for its implementation. This opens up prospects for the introduction of advanced hydrogen technologies in the mining industry of Kazakhstan, which will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and increasing the energy efficiency of production processes.
Today, the RSE NNC RK continues to vigorous efforts towards the development of hydrogen technologies jointly with partners, including attracting investments, developing technical solutions and training personnel in the field of hydrogen energy.
For reference. One of the strategic areas of activity of the RSE NNC RK is the development of controlled thermonuclear fusion and hydrogen energy technologies. This area includes research and development on the development of technologies for producing hydrogen, materials for its storage and transportation, as well as fuel cells.
The Center of Technological Competence in Hydrogen Energy was established.
An innovative materials science base and a laboratory installation for producing hydrogen from hydrocarbon gas by pyrolysis using microwave discharge was created.
